FAQ

Will Dr. Patel coordinate with my current surgeon? +
Yes. Upon request, Dr. Patel will send a copy of the written opinion directly to your treating physician. This is standard professional courtesy and helps ensure continuity of care regardless of what you decide.
What if I live outside of Naples or in another country? +
The second opinion service is fully remote-capable. You submit your records digitally, and the consultation is held via video call. No travel required. International patients are welcome β€” see our Medical Tourism page if you're considering having the surgery performed by Dr. Patel.
What imaging do I need to send? +
Ideally: weight-bearing X-rays, MRI (if available), and any CT scan. We accept DICOM files from a CD or digital download from your imaging center. If you only have reports without images, let us know β€” we may be able to proceed with what you have or arrange new imaging at our facility.
How is this different from a standard new patient appointment? +
A standard new patient visit typically includes a physical exam and may or may not involve a review of prior imaging. A second opinion consultation is specifically structured around reviewing a prior surgical recommendation in detail β€” it includes a written report and a dedicated 30-minute discussion focused on that decision.
Can I convert the second opinion into an in-person appointment? +
Absolutely. If after the second opinion you'd like Dr. Patel to perform the procedure or you want an in-person examination, we can schedule a follow-up in-office visit. The $350 fee is credited toward your first in-office visit.
Is my information kept private? +
Yes. All records are handled in full compliance with HIPAA. Imaging and clinical documents are transmitted through a secure, encrypted platform. No records are shared with third parties without your written authorization.
